From Nature to Profit: the Transformation of the Blackstone River Valley

1994-2000

This collection of photographs explores the dynamic relationship between man and his environment in the Blackstone River Valley. This river runs from Massachusetts to Rhode Island and is the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution. The photographs show abandoned factories, canals, waterfalls, mill towns, and nature between Worcester and Providence.  In these photographs, the observer can see one of the sources of America’s historic wealth: exploitation of running water.

The photographs are black and white.
