Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island

1998

The photographs in this collection are a continuation of my work on the Industrial Revolution and the Blackstone River Valley. They trace the same theme of man’s relationship to nature, transposing it to Narragansett Bay, the heart and soul of Rhode Island. The Bay’s two hundred miles of coastline encompass all of the state’s major cities and its history.  The photographs depict various aspects of life on the bay, including rivers, estuaries, cities, ports, beaches, geologic formations, commercial fishing, and community festivals.

The photographs are black and white and some color.
